Re: Double Side Board "Awareness"

I have just completed a few double sided boards and drilling from the top side does work okay however you have to have confidence in your alignments and setup because you don't get any visual indicators that the top side and bottom side have matched until after you have finished etching the top side...

Double Side Board "Awareness"

This is probably a tall order, but when probing the top side of a double sided board, there is a possibility that the probe could slip into a pre-drilled hole from completing the bottom side of the board. I suppose one option is to drill from the bottom side but the whole process is very delicate an...

Re: Autoleveller 0.8.0 Released

Sounds perfect to me. Although I would be inclined to remain with the full name. The brand and trust is established and I would not have thought you would want to risk undermining it. Autoleveller is also clear to anyone looking for this great software. ALAE does not mean a great deal - but ultimate...

Re: Autoleveller 0.8.0 Released

Incidentally, if anyone has any suggestion for a renaming of AL8, I am all ears. You are correct concerning the confusing naming and to most renaming with respect to the latest Java release is probably not a good idea otherwise you should have done that from the beginning (I assume that is what the...

Re: Autoleveller 0.8.0 Released

I can't be certain of what the issue is - and it could be a noise problem but during the spotting or pre-drilling phase I ended up with holes all over the place. Because the isolation milling worked well, I can only assume it might have been a noise problem. Anyway after reloading the autolevelled c...

Re: Suggested enhancement or feature

Yes, you raise a good point regarding the broader application of the software. Thinking about this you could probably just have a set of profiles, one of them being say PCB (which I will assume is required to be perfectly flat) etc. In the mean time I am aware of my issue and just apply a little cau...

Suggested enhancement or feature

I just completed my first PCB using auto leveller and it worked very well. Indeed I did an etching test pass at 0.1mm and got a perfect outline of the board. However I did have one false start where some noise falsely triggered the probe and I wound up with a big air pocket in the middle of the boar...

Re: Marriage of etching and drill software

Thanks Art - this is really nice to know.

I am using the member version but I made that post before I had fully explored the software.

Many thanks for the response.

Marriage of etching and drill software

I am new to this software but it strikes me that if you want to run a drill file after performing the etching or isolation, that you would need to level again for the drill file. Now I suspect that for the drill sequence this is not a huge issue, but being able to resuse the levelling data would be ...
