Re: Method for probing acrylic sheet
The needle has about 0.5mm free movement before it activates the photo interrupter. The less free movement, the better, but it does not affect accuracy in any way. My first probe used HOA0971 interrupter which I found in a local store by accident. It has all the pulse forming circuitry already buil...

Re: Newbie question, no insight found on forum
I use the 'two stage' process where Autoleveler generates a file to do the probing and generates a Raw Probe File (RPF) and take that file and let Autolever combine it into the Original G-code file to generate a final file. I prefer the two-stage process as well. When you make a circuit board, some...

Re: Method for probing acrylic sheet
Foil and water would probably work, although sounds messy. As for me, a couple years ago I made myself a small probe which I am still very happy with. You can see it here on CNC Zone forum: https://www.cnczone.com/forums/calibration-measurement/321286-diy-probe-different-approach.html Thanks C.O.D....

Method for probing acrylic sheet
I saw a post here for probing non-conductive material like plastic and I want to learn more as I do acrylic engraving and so far lived with acrylics uneven surface height issue akin to copper clad boards. This post mentioned using .02mm aluminum foil and water tension to make the foil hug the surfac...

Re: Newbie question, no insight found on forum
Thanks Country Bubba, I've read all the documentation provided on the website. Yes, Mach3 is my CNC controller software and is setup, has been setup for years to accurately control the XYZ axis. And I have written and use an AutoTool Zero macro for probing to XYZ work piece edges and top. This utili...

Newbie question, no insight found on forum
I'm a newbie to autoleveller but a longtime user of Mach3 with my DIY CNC machine and experienced in isolation routing of single-sided electronic circuit boards. It would be nice to have seen in the basic "Quick Start Guide" or "Autoleveller Guide" documentation as simple, basic explanation for how ...
