Autoleveller and alternate hardware

Hello all I've recently built a 3D Printer, a classic Rostock. I'm interested in fitting a spindle to it and seeing if it'll route a board. The machine will run pretty level when I've sorted a few issues. The only REAL issue I'll have will be getting autoleveller to work with the hardware, more to t...

GRBL and Autoleveller

James, I've noticed on your twitter feed that your looking into GRBL and Autoleveller? How is this even possible? I looked into this myself some time ago and come to the conclusion that GRBL would need a lot of modifying just to get a height probe working, let alone variables etc. I'm rather intrigu...

Re: beaglebone black, machinekit and autoleveller

Well, this is why I went for this option. I managed get a bbb for less than retail and it's completely standalone, just plug in a monitor, keyboard, mouse and network. The machinekit image just needs to be put on an sd card or flashed to the emmc on the board which is fairly easy. Once it's all runn...

Re: beaglebone black, machinekit and autoleveller

Afaik, the Linux cnc on the bbb is a fully fledged version, no cutbacks. I've had it working and tested the io on my scope and it's very capable, even got the probe input working. I'm just assuming that it will work. As for connecting to it, there are parallel capes for it but none available in the ...

beaglebone black, machinekit and autoleveller

I've recently acquired a beaglebone black sbc with the intention of using it to replace my laptop with Linux cnc on it. So far I have the bbb setup and running the machine kit image and linuxcnc working. I'm in the process of creating the config for my machine but so far it looks promising. My quest...

Re: Levelled, but still air cuts

Just out of curiosity, what machine are you using? Doesn't necessarily sound like a code problem but perhaps an issue with backlash in the z axis

Re: Here's one for you James

Yeah, it's happened with 8.2 and 8.3 so far, I don't know about any others, can't remember.

It's not a problem, I just forget that it does it and in the few seconds it's open I start putting in details then *poof* it's closed and re opened :D

Here's one for you James

I've got a strange issue with Autoleveller where when I open the program (the .exe) within a few seconds of opening it closes and re-opens.

I'm using win 7 by the way. It's just a little curious as after the first open/close/open switch it works fine.

Re: ER, Collets and tool accuracy

In the video, the first couple of attempts on the left side of the PCB where made using a 0.1mm pyramid engraving bit rather than a V bit. This is because the pyramid bits are stronger at 0.1mm than V bits but because there's no real cutting edge, they do tend to burr quite a bit. That's easily sort...

ER, Collets and tool accuracy

Now, I'm not a machinist by any means, I've done basic lathe turning and milling but that's about it. With regards to CNC machinery, I've had to learn on the fly. Something that's always seemed to have bugged me or plagued me is inaccurate (or so I thought) tooling. It's been a massive headache wher...
