Leveling non-conductive workpieces using a real probe
For benefit of others, I explain my Autoleveller process using an actual probe device: This is based on using Autoleveller with output from Cambam, and using Linuxcnc, but it should be informative for other app combinations as well, because the principles are the same. Now, before we go into the gen...

Want option for "manual touchoff" to skip touchoff routines
I have been using Autoleveler with fine success on non-conductive sheet materials, and now have a routine that works. I discovered I would like to be able to remove the probe function at the beginning of the leveled output gcode file with a option in the Autoleveler gui. Auto touchoff is how it is n...

Re: Levelled, but still air cuts
Ok, I fixed the air cutting issue for myself. Yes, duh, the top of the pcb (or workpiece) needs to be z=zero for this to work. And yes, the file is now tokenized and leveled, whereas before it was not, because it was out of z scope. My cnc is cutting as I type this, and it looks very good so far, no...

Re: Levelled, but still air cuts
I may have goofed by setting the top of the waste board under the pcb to zero z in Cambam. So the top was then 1.5875mm Oops. I will reconfigure to use the top of the pcb blank to z=0 instead. That would make sense. I will try this now. I am still wondering why there was no Z correction visible in t...

Re: Levelled, but still air cuts
I also loaded the Autoleveler version 0.7.8 leveled gcode file into cambam and I see arcs. Is this a sign of not being processed at all? I also noticed that rather long spans (the pcb outline cuts) do not show any z variation; looking at these few lines of code that cut an outline of the board, they...

Re: Levelled, but still air cuts
Same thing happened running the new file generation method; gcode generated using the saved log file from Linuxcnc. The error looks like 1.8mm or so. Now I am thinking to try a free version or older free version to lose this air cut bug. This time, I also tried a second time after shutting off and r...

Re: Levelled, but still air cuts
I just tried using Autolever version 0.8.6 on a 12 inch x 12 inch PCB using the v-tool as a probe, default settings except for grid area and offset, in the probe-and-cut in one step mode (original way of using Autoleveler before persistent probe files were added). I am using mm in both Autoleveler a...

Re: Pre-leveled gcode, A Feature Request
This is great! I can see the tilt in the numbers, so they look like real data, yes. I anxiously await your beta on this. When you have it, I am fully willing to put in some heavy testing time, because I actually need this feature to mill long y-axis paths on prototypes in acrylic after using a probe...

Re: Pre-leveled gcode, A Feature Request
Fine business. Good luck on your new job. I have done some basic research on how to do this in Mach3 in an attempt to save you time getting this feature together. Perhaps this information would narrow the problem down enough for you to be enticed to make a go of it? ;) Based on what I found so far i...

Pre-leveled gcode, A Feature Request
Hi James, I have had success with your autoleveler. I produced my very first circuit board set. I would like to explain my use for pcb and proposed use for milling plastic and other materials, and ask for an additional feature from you, for which I am willing to donate $100 in advance. A brief workf...
