Neither opening GCode or saving AL output

OS X 10.11 (El Capitan). Java 1.8 (latest updates - but have also tried with Java 1.6 and 1.7)

I have downloaded versions AutolevellerAE-0.7.0Free.jar, Autoleveller077 and Autoleveller074 (and a couple of sample Gcode files just to check it is not my GCode that is the problem) but am unable to use any of them.

Running AutolevellerAE_0.7.0Free - I am told that there is a later version available and when I dismiss this then it displays the file selection pane - when I click on 'Browse' nothing happens - I cannot select a file nor can I type a path into the box. Game over...

Running the 074 and 077 versions, I a am also reminded of a more recent version and I can then select a file in the browser pane. The figures on the 'probe' section do not fill after I select a file, nor does the G code info section. If I manually enter some figures into the probe section, it calculates the number of points. When I try to 'Create level code' I am taken to the 'Save' dialogue with the ALxxxx.ngc file selected however, no file is produced. If I click new folder, a new folder is made - if I then click save, still no file is produced.

I am trialling the free version and would be quite happy to pay for the members version - but only if it is going to work!

Any ideas?

John

John,

Thanks for the detailed info. The problem here is with OSX. Java should be platform independent but it seems, browsing for files does not work properly on a Mac, as I seam to remember a similar problem years ago with a Mac user. Unfortunately, I cannot test it on a Mac currently.

If you can get hold of a windows / linux box to test it on, all versions of AL / AE should be fine from there.
