User defined probe locations

Post by ansenseale »

Is it possible to specify exact locations to probe by modifying the AutoLevelled file, perhaps locations that are not in a grid, or does that throw off the math for leveling?

Thats not really possible because if you change the locations in the gcode files, they will no longer match with the expected locations in the software, and yes, throw off the math.

You can always change the spacing in the probe settings if you want a bigger or smaller gap between points, if that helps.

Wouldn't it be great if you could? Maybe have a general way of specifying probing area and spacing like there is now, but have a flyout menu that has a graphical display of the probe points where you could manually add, delete, and move them. This would be supremely useful to me, as many things I want to probe either are not rectangular, or have voids or other obstructions inside the probing area. Is this something that could be possible in the future?

This is possible but a bit unwieldy.

The problem is that AL assumes a near perfect rectangular grid mesh so it would take a bit of reworking to make this possible.

I have not ruled it out though.
