I've recently built a 3D Printer, a classic Rostock. I'm interested in fitting a spindle to it and seeing if it'll route a board. The machine will run pretty level when I've sorted a few issues.

How is this even possible? I looked into this myself some time ago and come to the conclusion that GRBL would need a lot of modifying just to get a height probe working, let alone variables etc.

Well, this is why I went for this option. I managed get a bbb for less than retail and it's completely standalone, just plug in a monitor, keyboard, mouse and network. The machinekit image just needs to be put on an sd card or flashed to the emmc on the board which is fairly easy.

Afaik, the Linux cnc on the bbb is a fully fledged version, no cutbacks. I've had it working and tested the io on my scope and it's very capable, even got the probe input working. I'm just assuming that it will work.

I've recently acquired a beaglebone black sbc with the intention of using it to replace my laptop with Linux cnc on it.

Just out of curiosity, what machine are you using? Doesn't necessarily sound like a code problem but perhaps an issue with backlash in the z axis

Yeah, it's happened with 8.2 and 8.3 so far, I don't know about any others, can't remember.

It's not a problem, I just forget that it does it and in the few seconds it's open I start putting in details then *poof* it's closed and re opened

I've got a strange issue with Autoleveller where when I open the program (the .exe) within a few seconds of opening it closes and re-opens.

I'm using win 7 by the way. It's just a little curious as after the first open/close/open switch it works fine.
