I'm running windows 10 and now the autoleveller will not a file in autoleveller-0.60.jar (if I should use this version ?)
I get in the log file

Code: Select all

Jan 20, 2016 8:22:21 PM java.util.prefs.WindowsPreferences <init>
WARNING: Could not open/create prefs root node Software\JavaSoft\Prefs at root 0x80000002. Windows RegCreateKeyEx(...) returned error code 5.
Am I doing something wrong ?

I too get this log message. It is not a problem. In general "WARNINGS" can be ignored and "ERRORS" will cause you problems.

I can tell you where and how this warning appears, but not why:

When you browse for a file ALAE tries to open the previously used folder which should have been stored in the Windows registry somewhere. So when you browse for your gcode file it should take you automatically to the last known folder that you used. In the code, I create a registry entry for this, and when I do, the warning shows up. The strange thing is, ALAE browses to this folder, and everything works as expected despite the warning saying there is a problem, so you really can safely ignore this.

I click on open button but the button does not work it will not let me open a file. If I click autolevlel then get error message that no G-doe is loaded so I know this button works the clear I ant' say because I can't open a file

Hmmm, so I guess the warning message does hold true for some people. Let me see if I can find a workaround. Does the original Autoleveller work OK? Does the browse button work OK there?

Thanks for checking

Its hard to debug this one because I cannot replicate the issue on my machine. However I have applied a workaround which should do the trick and it will be in the next release which should be very soon.

Got a bit of flu at the moment and feeling like a dogs dinner currently so bear with me.

I hope you get to feel better soon, I still could not open any files so I thought I'd try something and went through the registry and searched for autoleveller and deleted it all, re-opened it and I now can open files and create the level code. Will try it again and see how it goes and will let you know. I'll also wait for next version when done
